In the eastern part of Las Tunas, 670 km east of Havana, there is a clothing company that completes the follow-up process of 36000 children's suits, and the previous work was completed in China.

This is a joint venture production enterprise. It is part of a tentative contract signed between Cuba and China. It produces shorts and shirts for boys and girls.

The fabric is produced and clipped in China, then pported to Cuba to complete the subsequent process.

China is the largest textile exporter in the world, with the lowest production cost and therefore the most competitive price.

Tania Reigada, director of the Cuban company, said that because of Hurricane IKE's destruction of several factories in the eastern province, they had to pfer their production to the factories in the middle of Las Tunas city.

He said that although the infrastructure was damaged, the company's employees, mostly women, redoubled their efforts to complete the annual plan of the company, including military uniforms and sugarcane farmers' uniforms.
